Anti-war art : It is one of my RCA project about some of the progress and themes around my recent work in 2023. Blue and yellow, Urushi,Oil and Tempera on Canvas, Silver leaf H1000mm, W1600, D30mm (2023).Urushi ,Tempera on Silk Kimono ,Silver leaf , H1600mm W1200mm D50mm (2023) .These are some photos of a kimono I got from my grandmother.Kimonos can be passed down from generation to generation from parents to children. My kimono and kimono fabrics are made from once-used kimono fabrics or scraps of fabric used for other purposes, which I re-use.Wearing kimono is actually part of my everyday life. This kimono is used for Keiji and is a symbol of happiness. It is very peaceful and beautiful. There are two perspectives on kimono. One is the pattern. The other is the shape. I was very interested in the fact that a kimono is made from eight pieces of fabric. I was fascinated by the fact that the production process, including the matching of patterns, seems so simple and yet so complex. It is wonderful that a kimono is a single piece of cloth, called a "tanmono", which once it has become a kimono, is dyed again (at which point it is washed and re-stitched to become a single piece of cloth again) and re-stitched, and continues to shine with life until the very end.I will aim to produce an anti-war art using kimono.
